As we get closer to 1st June, we wanted to help inspire you for the 21-Day Dr Gaye Summer Cleanse! Here’s a shake recipe for those who want an extra boost of energy from their Super-Shake!

The combination of the banana, cacao, cinnamon and coconut oil give this healthy shake a lovely exotic flavour while increasing its nutrition as well! Coconuts have a plethora of health benefits so we love to add them to almost all of our recipes whenever possible. Cacao is the raw and pure form of chocolate and is rich in calcium and iron. Cinnamon is known to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. And although bananas have many health benefits and are packed with great nutrition like potassium, they are also starchy and high in sugar. When doing the cleanse or on a low-sugar diet, be careful not to consume more than 1-2 bananas a week. Treat this Super-Charged Nana like a special reward for eating well the rest of the week!

Super-Charged Nana - Dr Gaye Super-Shake Recipe - health shake with coconut oil, cacao powder and banana

Ingredients

1 banana
1 tsp cacao powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp coconut oil OR 1 cup coconut milk

Directions

  1. Follow the instructions on the package of the Super-Shake. Pour the shake contents into the blender.
  2. Add chopped banana, cacao powder and cinnamon into the blender and blend for 1 minute.
  3. When the consistency is smooth enough, add the coconut oil or coconut milk to sweeten and thicken the shake.
  4. Enjoy and re-charge for the day ahead!
