Testimonial - Katrin Nuernberger Sugarfree Londoner - Dr Gaye Super-Shake

I used to think coffee was my best friend in the morning. How quickly things can change.... because now it is my Super-Shake. Seriously.

I came across the Super-Shake a few weeks ago and decided to give it a go. I've always believed in getting your nutrients from real food rather than from pills and powders. I eat as many veggies as I can muster and have been sugar free for a number of years. I get so excited about really good (and good-for-you) food that I even write a blog about it. But we all know it can be difficult to fit the perfectly balanced meal plan into a busy day. So why not get a little extra help to make sure you've set yourself up as well as you can?

I am not a nutritionist, so although was familiar with some of the shake's ingredients such as flax and maca, which I use regularly, I was less familiar with others. The interesting thing I noticed was that just after a few days I started to look forward to drinking it - it's like my body is telling me to get more of that good stuff. One evening I forgot to prepare the shake (the original one needs to soak for at least 6 hours) and was genuinely annoyed the next morning. Needless to say, this has not happened again :)

Since drinking the shake, my energy levels have increased. I get a nice boost from it in the morning. I drink it first thing, and might have a coffee an hour later or so - more out of habit than need, and because I just like the taste and smell.

The one thing you need to do is be able to get over the colour of the shake. Brown and green superfood ingredients do not look as pretty as a fruit smoothie (which is full of sugar). But don’t let the colour dissuade you from drinking it as the benefits are tremendous! Having been sugar free for a number of years, I quite enjoy the taste on its own, but I can imagine many people would prefer to add some sweetness to it by blending it with a banana or berries. Try it – this one is a keeper!
