When we have a bit of time over the weekend, we love to make homemade oat-free granolas! Without oats as a cheap filler, you’ll feel more satiated with less and get much more nutrition! Here’s what we did to keep it super simple…we didn’t bother to weigh anything! It went like this:
Put these in separate oven-proof dishes and put into an oven of around 180 degrees…
- Handful of raw sunflower seeds
- Handful of raw pumpkin seeds
- Handful of raw sesame seeds
- 3 handfuls of raw coconut chips
- 3 handfuls of buckwheat or buckwheat flakes
Keep an eye on each of these as they need to toast until golden brown, but they don’t all cook at the same rate and the coconut will burn quite quickly, so keep vigilant.
When all these are toasted, add them to a large bowl and mix in
- 1 handful of sultanas/raisins
- 1 handful of chopped dates
You can mix in any ingredients you like but we like to keep it fairly simple and eat as a treat for a mid-morning snack or breakfast. You can make the raw version of this by using a dehydrator or you can buy our organic Super-Cereal which is a bit more high end and has lower GI than this recipe and it’s 100% raw.
